In Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan they will no longer work with Mir cards.
Cards of the Russian payment system “Mir” will no longer be serviced in Kyrgyzstan. The new rules will come into force on April 5.

The Kommersant publication writes that the country’s authorities made the decision due to US sanctions against the National Payment Card System (NSCP), the operator of the Mir payment system.
At the same time, the National Payment System of Kyrgyzstan reported that Elcart will stop servicing Russian Mir cards in order to “minimize the risk of secondary sanctions” against the Kyrgyz payment system.
Thus, holders of Mir cards in Kyrgyzstan will not be able to withdraw cash from ATMs, transfer funds, make online payments and pay for purchases through POS terminals.
In addition, Kazakhstan’s Halyk Bank has stopped servicing Mir cards since the end of February.
“The last change was on February 27, Mir cards are no longer serviced,” writes the Russian propaganda agency TASS.
It is indicated that the restrictions affected ATMs and POS terminals. The reasons for this decision are not specified.
It is worth noting that Halyk Bank is one of the largest banks in Kazakhstan.
Payment system “Mir” – latest news
In 2022 – after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine – Uzbekistan announced that they had put an end to Russian Mir bank cards due to the associated risks.
Since September 2023, the Turkish bank Türkiye İş Bankası and one of the largest banks in Tajikistan, Dushanbe City Bank, have stopped working with Mir cards.
And from March 30, 2024, cards from the Mir payment system were also abandoned in Armenia .

“The new rules will come into force on April 5.”
That’s quick!
In the West, EU, or whatever, such a measure would take 6 months in a good year, or a year in a bad one.
Not to worry, late last year that mighty powerhouse called Cuba accepted the Mir card, so all is not lost. 😂
