The President of Turkey has called on the President of France to involve Turkey in the formation of a new European security architecture.

This is reported by Bloomberg.

The two presidents reportedly discussed bilateral relations and regional issues on the sidelines of the NATO summit. Including the recent 12-day conflict between Iran and Israel.

According to the newspaper’s sources, the Turkish leader wants the European leaders he meets at the summit in The Hague to recognize Turkey’s value to the continent’s security as NATO’s second largest army. And that unlimited defense cooperation is key to improving deterrence.

Turkey is seeking to convince its Western allies to agree to jointly produce air defense equipment, which could support its plans to develop a strong domestic defense industry.

Turkey is probably seeking to have its companies allowed to participate in the €150 billion Security Action for Europe (SAFE) program, which aims to strengthen Europe’s defense by purchasing weapons from European manufacturers and partner countries.

Before the meeting, it was expected that the Turkish president would ask Macron to drop his opposition to the joint production of a European missile defense system.

Turkey has long sought Macron’s approval for the purchase of European SAMP/T systems from Eurosam. In 2020, in response to a similar request, Macron said that Turkey must first clarify its goals in the conflict in Syria. France has also supported Greece and Cyprus in their territorial disputes with Turkey in the disputed waters of the eastern Mediterranean.

In early June, NATO began cooperation with the Turkish defense company ASELSAN to develop a modular ground-based air defense system.

  1. It makes you wonder if this sort of behavior among NATO members is what the orange crook had in mind by “making America great again”. Not even this semi-trashy country trusts the US anymore.
Clearly, the US used to be great until the convicted felon entered the White House again.

    • It would take a good president to talk all but one NATO country into raising their defenses from 2% up to 5% Even you yourself said it needed to be done, but that was before your TDS kicked in, now you’re apparently against it……..

      • Red I don’t agree. This one achievement is far outweighed by the damage he has created all over the world, most importantly to Ukraine. By the way, I don’t have TDS, only a sense of what a president should be…aka President Reagan. Not a sniveling lying dangerous narcissistic megalomaniac. These are just a few adjectives describing the current occupant in the WH.

      • “raising their defense[ spending] from 2% up to 5%”

It’s unclear how much of that was due to trumpkov’s words and now much due to putler’s actions.

      • Don’t put words in my mouth, Red. I never even once said I’m against NATO members increasing their defense budgets. As a matter of fact, that they’ve skimmed on their defenses has been a deeply sore spot for me for years.
I give Trump credit for getting those pussies to do more, but the periphery damage he’s doing in the process is nothing to cheer about, don’t you agree?

  2. Erdogoon is an antisemite. Trump’s support for Israel and the bombing of Iran are the reason this islamonaZi now wants to infiltrate Europe. The same asshole who flooded the continent with muZZlim scum in 2015.

    • Don’t know if I agree with everything about Erdogan but there is one undeniable fact. He’s absolutely dangerous. I question whether he should be in NATO in the first place. But actually given the way NATO has positioned itself recently, they should just as well bring China North Korea, Iran, Russia into this near useless organization.

  3. “jointly produce air defense equipment”

Why doesn’t Erdogon want to keep purchasing them from ruSSia? They’ve been working great for Iran and ruSSia… 😂😂😂
