Trump, he said, had switched sides in the war between dictatorship and democracy.

The decision by US President Donald Trump to suspend military aid to Ukraine looks like the US going over to Germany’s side in World War II. This statement was made by former Washington Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul on the social network H.

“Imagine if Roosevelt had lost the 1940 election to an ‘America First’ man who then forced the US to side with Germany in WWII (before we were attacked). We’d all be speaking German now,” he wrote.

In the context of the situation with aid to Ukraine, McFaul emphasized:

“After three years of war between an imperialist dictatorship with autocratic allies and a democracy, Trump simply switched sides.”

US halts military aid to Ukraine

On March 4, Bloomberg reported that Trump had stopped all military aid to Ukraine. This information was later confirmed by the White House. CNN noted that this also included weapons that were already on their way to Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in his evening address that he had instructed the heads of various departments to receive official information from the United States on the fate of military aid. According to him, Ukraine had been receiving different signals for weeks, and there had already been a precedent of stopping aid. He also stressed that Ukraine and America deserved a respectful dialogue and a clear position from each other.

French Prime Minister Francois Bayrou said Paris and Europe must pool all available means to replace American aid for Ukraine as much as possible.
