US National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, commenting on Donald Trump’s recent sharp statements towards Ukraine, has referred to the “escalation of rhetoric” and “pushback” to concluding a deal on the development of Ukrainian minerals.

Details: Waltz stated that “not everyone” has yet accepted the end of the era of “an endless grinding war with death and destruction on all sides, costing hundreds of billions and costing hundreds of thousands, if not millions, lives.”

Quote: “I think the frustration is really stand just in the last week from this bizarre pushback and escalation of rhetoric over presentation of what we see as an actual opportunity – and that’s to have the United States invest in Ukrainian infrastructure, to have them grow both minerals, natural resources, oil and gas.”

Details: Waltz emphasised that the United States, unlike Europe, does not want to provide most of the aid in the form of loans repaid by interest from seized Russian assets.

Quote: “We believe the American taxpayer deserves to recoup much of their investment. All of that is an opportunity for Ukraine. They need to see that for what it is. Instead, we had this kind of escalating rhetoric and pushback, and the President [Trump – ed.] is not going to tolerate it.”

Background:

  • Speaking to journalists at Mar-a-Lago earlier, Trump said he supported Russia’s demands for presidential elections in Ukraine. The US president claimed: “I hate to say it, but he’s down at 4% approval rating“.
  • The administration of US President Donald Trump proposed that Ukraine give the United States 50% ownership of the country’s rare earth minerals. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy refused to sign the agreement.
  • The White House called Zelenskyy “short-sighted” in rejecting the agreement with the US.

  1. “The White House called Zelenskyy “short-sighted” in rejecting the agreement with the US.”

Trump is pissed off because Zelensky saw right through this extortion, and Trump being used to NY real estate tactics working, got his ass handed back to him. Maybe mafia land will give the US 50% of their minerals.

It was not a deal, it was a pistol at Zelensky’s forehead. Trump’s administration is acting like the Gestapo.

    • No doubt Trump expected this deal to be signed. He didn’t send Bessent 5000 miles to taste borscht, or varenyki.

      • I bet. The orange disaster always thinks that what he wants, he gets, according to The Art of the Steal.
