It is known that Trump will fly to Paris for the opening ceremony of Notre Dame Cathedral, which was destroyed by fire.
US President-elect Donald Trump is going on his first trip abroad after the election. This weekend, Trump will fly to Paris to attend this weekend’s opening of the Notre Dame Cathedral, which was destroyed by fire more than five years ago, writes Reuters .
Notre Dame Cathedral is one of the most beloved and visited monuments of the French capital. It will reopen its doors to tourists and Catholics this week.
Major renovations have restored the 12th-century cathedral to its former glory, and the white stone and gold decorations shine brighter than ever.
Trump, who won the election on November 5 and is due to take office on January 20, praised the government of French President Emmanuel Macron in a post on his social media platform Truth Social.
“President Emmanuel Macron has done a wonderful job ensuring that Notre Dame is restored to its full glory and beyond. It will be a very special day for everyone!” he wrote.
The French government has invited Trump to attend Saturday’s opening ceremony and his team has discussed the trip with Macron’s office, a source familiar with the matter said.
Trump’s transition team did not immediately respond to questions about whether the president-elect would meet with other foreign leaders in Paris.
Although Trump has not traveled abroad since winning re-election, he left Florida to visit New York for a sporting event and traveled to Texas with billionaire Elon Musk to watch Musk’s SpaceX launch its giant Starship rocket.
