Trump wants to offer Ukraine rare earth metals in exchange for US aid

Trump was outraged that Europe does not provide Ukraine with the same amount of military aid as the United States.

US President Donald Trump wants to offer Ukraine a deal on military aid in exchange for the country’s rare earth metals. He also accused Europe of not providing enough aid to Kyiv. He said this during a conversation with journalists at the White House.

“We told Ukraine that they have valuable rare earth metals and we want guarantees for what we give. We give them money and weapons… So we want to make a deal with Ukraine so that they can provide us with their rare earth metals,” he said.

Trump also expressed outrage that Europe does not provide Ukraine with the same amount of military aid as the United States.

“We are separated by an ocean… It is more important for them than for us. But they are significantly behind us in funding. They should pay at least equally,” he added.

Let us recall that the joint development of rare earth metal deposits was part of the plan of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, which was proposed to the elected US President in the fall of 2024. In particular, the discussion was about the joint development of lithium and titanium deposits.

  1. “We are separated by an ocean… It is more important for them than for us.”

Can’t argue with that. Many – too many – Europeans still think this war doesn’t affect them.

    • Official figures Europe :

“The European Union (EU) and our 27 Member States remain united and determined in our unprecedented support for Ukraine. Since the start of the war, the EU and our Member States have made available close to $145 billion* in financial, military, humanitarian, and refugee assistance.

In addition, in February 2024, European leaders agreed to commit up to $54 billion until 2027 for the Ukraine Facility to support Ukraine’s recovery, reconstruction and modernization, as well as its efforts to carry out reforms as part of its accession path to the EU. This will bring our commitments to date to over $174 billion.”

      • The aid is piss poor when you consider that Europe has around 500,000,000 people and a $17 trillion economy … and that this war is right next door.

        • For that reason, I fear that the putler creeping offensive actually has a chance of achieving its full objectives. I wouldn’t like to hazard a guess as to what percentage,, but it’s significant, given that all “allies” are consistently providing only 20% of what is needed.
It does not seem likely that there will be any change, except for the worse.

Of course the US has given more military aid to Ukraine, but he should comment on the overall aid, where the EU aid far surpasses the total US aid.

  3. Ukraine is rich in mineral resources. According to Forbes estimates for 2023, the total value of mineral resources in Ukraine reached $15 trillion. It was noted that more than 70% of the total amount falls on three regions – Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk and Luhansk.

SO GIVE THE WEAPONS. YOU GET THE RESOURCES. DEAL!
