On September 4, U.S. President Donald Trump, during a phone call at the Coalition of the Willing conference, urged Europe to stop buying Russian oil, which helps finance the war against Ukraine
Reuters reported the information, citing a White House representative.
According to him, Donald Trump called on European leaders to halt imports of Russian oil that help Moscow finance the war against Ukraine.
“President Trump emphasized that Europe must stop purchasing Russian oil that is funding the war — as Russia received 1.1 billion euros in fuel sales from the EU in one year. The president also emphasized that European leaders must place economic pressure on China for funding Russia’s war efforts,” the representative said.
At a briefing following the Coalition of the Willing meeting and the conversation with the American leader, French President Emmanuel Macron said that over the coming weeks the United States’ contribution to this coalition will be determined.
He also emphasized that the next step should be contacts between representatives of the U.S. and Russia. According to Macron, bilateral, trilateral (U.S., Russia and Ukraine), and four-party talks are expected.
The French president stressed that if Russia continues to avoid substantive peace negotiations, France together with the U.S. will impose new sanctions.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, at a briefing, said they had a detailed conversation with Donald Trump. He said the main instrument should be pressure, primarily economic, to force Russia to stop the war.
According to Zelenskyy, the key to peace is to deprive the Russian war machine of funding and resources.
“We also raised the issue of maximum protection of Ukrainian skies. As long as there is no peace, our people must not be dependent on constant Russian attacks… We are counting on this program. We agreed on further contacts,” the president emphasized.

Which two countries are buying russian oil in Europe? One is best buddy of TACO, Orban. The other is Fico.
What is TACO going to do? He is full of advice for other countries, but will not commit to any sanctions himself.
I think the good thing is that Orban can’t buy oil as long as the pumping station is down
Finally, the orange monkey said something I can agree with.
Europe needs to stop buying russian oil, but it looks like Ukraine are solving that problem themselves.
Meanwhile! Total trade turnover between the US and russia increased by 31.3% in the first six months of 2025 compared to the first half of 2024.
