U.S. President Donald Trump, during a meeting with Turkish leader Recep Erdoğan, stated that he would like Ankara to stop purchasing Russian oil
The Guardian and Clash Report reported the information.
“I’d like to have him [Erdoğan] stop buying any oil from Russia, while Russia continues this rampage against Ukraine,” Trump said, adding that Moscow’s economy is “struggling.”
“It’s such a waste of human life, and so he ought to stop. Putin ought to stop,” emphasized the head of the White House.
At the same time, Trump believes that Erdoğan could have a great influence on the Russian Federation’s war against Ukraine, but “prefers being neutral.”
“Both Putin and Zelensky respect Erdoğan. Everybody respects Erdoğan. I really respect Erdogan. He can have a big influence on Ukraine war if he wants to, but he prefers being neutral,” he said.
- On September 2, Recep Erdoğan said that currently, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin are not yet ready for a meeting at the leadership level.

Yeah, wtf has Trump been doing since February?! His efforts to be neutral have contributed to this stalemate. I imagine that is probably just what Erdogon told him.
