Trump Today on the Attempted Assassination of President von der Leyen

Over the weekend, Russian electronic warfare disrupted the navigation systems on EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen’s plane, forcing her pilots to divert to Bulgaria and rely on paper maps for an emergency landing. Bulgarian officials have attributed the operation to Russia’s FSB.

Also this week, German General Carsten Breuer’s aircraft came under similar jamming attacks twice while flying over the Baltics.

Sending ballistic missiles into EU and UK ambassadorial offices in Ukraine is an act of war. Targeting the EU president for assassination is an act of war.

The jamming events happened as Putin shared the stage with Xi Jinping, Narendra Modi, and Kim Jong-un. While he was smiling for pictures, Putin’s henchmen were attempting to bring down Western leaders in midair.

When asked today about the attempt on the life of President Ursula von der Leyen, President Trump made the following comments today:

“Well, nobody knows where it came from, but they did take away her ability to use a phone. Sometimes that’s a good thing. Sometimes if that could happen to me, I’d be very happy.”

Note: Imagine if this had happened to Airforce 1

This is chilling. Imagine the outrage if Air Force One had to make an emergency landing because of hostile jamming, no one would brush it off as a joke.

Targeting the EU Commission President isn’t just “interference,” it’s an outright act of aggression. The fact that it happened while Putin was cozying up with Xi, Modi, and Kim makes it even more alarming. Leaders can’t afford to minimize this, because next time, it won’t just be paper maps saving lives.

Concerning and flippant remarks. Evidence did suggested gps jammed with pilots needing paper maps to land:

Russia’s War Enters “The Mocking Stage”

Since his red carpet at the Alaska Summit, and with a collar on the neck of the American president, Putin launches four direct attacks on the West.

DW PHILLIPS

SEP 03, 2025

On August 24, 2025, Russian operatives assassinated Andriy Parubiy, former Speaker of Ukraine’s Parliament, as he walked the streets of Lviv. The Kremlin’s message was unmistakable: retribution for his heroic role during the 2014 Revolution of Dignity — and a message to the people of Ukraine that Russian terror is not restricted to Russian soldiers without a conscience, or drone and missile attacks.

But Putin also delivered a second message which was broadcast in high definition to his allies, subordinates and loyal followers in Russia: open mockery of the President of the United States

Four times in the last two weeks, Putin pressed the button directly targeting Americans, EU and UK protected property and the leader of the EU:

  1. On August 21, missiles struck Flex Ltd., an American-owned electronics plant in Mukachevo, western Ukraine — a deliberate hit on U.S. business.
  2. On August 28, Russian drones and missiles slammed into Kyiv, damaging the British Council’s offices and sending a clear signal to London.
  3. That same day, August 28, a second strike battered the European Union’s Delegation offices in Kyiv, a direct attack on Brussels.
  4. On August 30, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen’s chartered plane was forced to circle over Bulgaria after GPS interference suspected to be of Russian origin — a not-so-subtle attempt to rattle or remove the EU’s top official.

Each act of aggression was a specific warcrime forbidden under international law.

Importantly, the attacks on the UK and EU were also acts of war against the protected diplomatic property of sovereign states for which retaliation is justified.

And that is exactly why Putin targeted them – because he knew he could get away with it with total impunity.

Putin did all of this knowing that the President of the United States would do absolutely nothing in response.

Zero. Nada. Zilch.

And if the U.S. president does nothing, the EU and UK leaders are unlikely to act.

Which is exactly what happened.

Did Putin raise his glass to the man in 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue with an affectionate Russian toast — «За друзей, которые всегда рядом» (“To friends who are always there”)”?

Who can say?

But one thing is certain: the indicted war criminal from Moscow knows that whatever bark comes from the mouth of the American president, the world now sees the collar around his neck and the chain tied to the Kremlin gates.

And in Moscow, they get the joke.

Russian state television is already in on it — smirking anchors and Kremlin propagandists delight in portraying Trump as Putin’s obedient sidekick.

To Putin’s allies and to his own people, mocking the American president has become part of the spectacle: a show of dominance, a wink to his domestic audience that Russia not only defies the West militarily, but takes great pleasure in humiliating its leader symbolically.

This is “The Mocking Stage” of Russia’s war of aggression — a phase where attacks are not just aimed at eliminating the Ukrainian people and their identity, but showing to the world Russian dominance specifically over the America president in a manner symbolic, humiliating, and theatrical.

Having received a literal red carpet treatment from the United States in Alaska, and from the moment he departed the summit, Putin the indicted war criminal welcomed a new “Roaring Twenties” of Kremlin audacity, where there are no limits, and ain’t no mountain high enough to keep Trump from running back to his “very good friend” in Moscow.

@DW Phillips: Well said, sir. A brilliant synopsis of recent events highlighting Putin’s shameless and unsparing dominance of POTUS. Crazy coincidence or visitors from outer space?

  1. Comments on the story about Von Der Leyen’s plane in the DT were swamped with maga trolls saying shit like : “better luck next time.”

    I commented :

“Two can play at that game.
Do it to putler and members of his murder gang.”

    A reply came from :

    Bob N A Long

‘Putler!’ Love it! Genius stuff. How did you think of it?

My reply to the troll was :

“The sobriquet “Putler” was appearing in ruZZia before the evil gargoyle started his genocide in Ukraine, but after his genocide in Chechnya.”

  2. Is this really newsworthy? When was the last time that taco said anything intelligent, compassionate, or truthful?

    • He’s adopting the same mocking tone as putler, who has trained him well.
Yet another dear little girl was murdered by his bum chum, yet no comment was made and no action taken by this morally bankrupt cretinous oaf.

“the indicted war criminal from Moscow knows that whatever bark comes from the mouth of the American president, the world now sees the collar around his neck and the chain tied to the Kremlin gates.”

      • Friend, foe, or neutrals, everybody sees taco the same way; as a pathetic worm on the vampire’s rod. A pitiful piece of manure pretending to be someone. Nobody has any respect for the orange creature except his even more brainless maga fanboys and girls.

  3. This is not just about TACO. Why have the UK and the EU not sent every russian ambassador back to the shithole? If they are not going to anything about attacks on EU and UK sovereign territory in Kyiv, they will just continue.

    • Until all democracies have completely severed all trade, diplomatic, financial/banking, cultural etc links from russia for the next 100 years, none of us can claim the high moral ground.
The head of the British chamber of commerce in Kyiv called exactly for this in 2014. It fell on deaf ears.
