It is also planned to raise existing duties on imports from China to the level of the new duties for Canada and Mexico.

Starting Saturday, February 1, the United States will impose significant tariffs on imports of goods from Canada , Mexico and China, as previously promised by new President Donald Trump. This was announced at a briefing by White House spokesperson Caroline Leavitt.
“I can confirm that tomorrow, February 1, the deadline set by President Trump in his statement several weeks ago remains in place,” she said.
According to her, the duty on goods from Canada and Mexico will be 25%, and on Chinese goods – 10%.
“These are promises the president makes and promises the president keeps,” Leavitt said.
She declined to give further details on whether there would be exemptions for certain goods, particularly oil.
Reuters’ own sources close to the White House, however, clarify that tomorrow Trump will only sign the decree on the introduction of duties, and these changes will come into force on March 1.
Trump’s order will also set out a process by which all three countries can seek exemptions for certain goods. However, any exemptions will be “few,” the source said.
As Reuters notes , the introduction of these tariffs will be a painful blow to the US neighbors. For example, 75% of Canadian exports go to the United States. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has already called on the nation to prepare for hard times.
It is also worth adding that the 10% tariff on goods from China is in addition to the 15% that the Biden administration had already introduced.

So basically, Trump has just increased prices for US citizens.
Any of the MAGAt morons who still believe trumpkov’s lie that the tariffs will be paid by the other country will be due for a rude awakening when they see prices skyrocket.
The prices certainly didn’t skyrocket during his first term’s tariffs so why would they now?
That was limited tariffs, mostly on stuff from China. Now he’s talking about a 25% price hike on everything from Canada and Mexico. That’s a big difference.
Canadians should brace themselves for tough times ahead due to the draconian tariffs the United States is about to impose on Canadian goods , Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said at a press conference .
“I won’t sugarcoat it – our nation could be facing tough times in the coming days and weeks. We are at a critical moment. As President Trump has said, he remains prepared to impose tariffs on Canada, possibly as early as tomorrow,” he said.
All Mexico and Canada have to do is stop the Fentanyl and terrorists from coming into the US and there will be no tariffs. Interesting the media left that part out of their “report”
Free Trade Agreement with Canada cancelled.
