The American leader announced that the United States would impose a so-called “secondary tariff” on Venezuela.
United States President Donald Trump has threatened to impose a 25% tariff on all countries that buy gas and oil from Venezuela, he said on his social media account Truth Social .

The American leader announced that the United States of America would impose a so-called “secondary tariff” on Venezuela. Among the reasons, he cited the fact that Venezuela “has purposefully and fraudulently sent to the United States, under cover, tens of thousands of high-ranking and other criminals, many of whom are murderers and people of very violent character.”
“Among the gangs they sent to the United States is the Tren de Aragua, which has been designated a ‘foreign terrorist organization.’ We are in the process of returning them to Venezuela – a major task! In addition, Venezuela is very hostile to the United States and the freedoms we stand for. Therefore, any country that buys oil and/or gas from Venezuela will be forced to pay the United States a 25% tariff on any trade with our country,” Trump said.
According to him, the new tariffs will come into effect on April 2, 2025.
Bloomberg writes that such a move would particularly affect China. Beijing is currently the main buyer of oil from Venezuela. The country has also been an important supplier of oil to the United States .
