According to CNN , he made the statement in the Oval Office. The politician told reporters that during their conversation, negotiations were underway “about the division of territory” between the two countries. He wants to end the war in order to “stop the killing and save American money”:
“We will very soon achieve a complete ceasefire in the Russian-Ukrainian war. We will have a treaty, and we are negotiating it. A treaty in terms of land division, etc., etc. It is being negotiated as we speak.”
At the same time, Trump refused to say whether he was considering imposing sanctions on Russia for its continued attacks on Ukraine. When asked by a journalist, he only said: “Well, they’re fighting each other.”
