Trump called the reception at the NBA game amazing, even though fans loudly booed him. The President claimed the city’s love despite criticism and ridicule online.

U.S. President Donald Trump reposted a video online claiming that “New York loves” him—hours after he was booed during a New York Knicks NBA game, The Independent reports, according to UNN.

Details

The video, shared on Truth Social just after 2:00 a.m. local time on Tuesday following the New York Knicks’ crushing defeat to the San Antonio Spurs, shows a crowd watching the presidential motorcade pass through Midtown Manhattan on its way to Madison Square Garden.

Some onlookers cheered, while others booed the president. The video shows several people chanting “Trump, Trump, Trump,” while other chants were indistinguishable.

In the video shared by Trump, at least one person can be heard singing “Donald Trump is coming to town” to the tune of the famous Christmas song “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.”

“Despite Trump’s claims that New York ‘loves’ him, it was not so obvious during Monday night’s game at Madison Square Garden. The crowd loudly booed the president when he appeared on the Jumbotron during the performance of the national anthem,” the publication states.
