The President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, has secretly assigned another special representative, Stephen Witkoff, to deal with the issue of the Russian war against Ukraine .
The New York Times reports this, citing sources . It is noted that Trump’s official special envoy for Ukraine and Russia is retired General Keith Kellogg.
The publication’s sources report that several weeks ago the American president “secretly gave Witkoff the authority to expand his portfolio beyond the Middle East in order to open a negotiating channel with the Russians.”
“Trump trusts Whitkoff, with whom he has been friends since the 1980s, on a personal level and has told people close to him that he believes the developer has the negotiating skills to help end the war in Ukraine,” the report says.
