Missiles for Patriot air defense systems have already been sent to Ukraine as part of a new supply mechanism.
This was stated by US President Donald Trump, Reuters reports . “They have already been sent,” he said.
“They’re leaving Germany and then Germany will replace them. So what’s happening is: basically the European Union, but let’s say in the form of NATO, it’s very similar, but NATO will pay for everything. In some cases, the European Union countries will pay for us directly,” Trump detailed.
When asked whether secondary sanctions against countries that buy Russian oil would affect American consumers, Trump replied: “I don’t think so. This whole thing will go away eventually. It should go away. And Putin says, ‘I want peace, I want peace,’ but he hasn’t done what he says yet. So I think it will go away. But we’ll see soon.”
Patriot supply to Ukraine
The US will provide Ukraine with Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems. Trump said the US will transfer them through a mechanism under which European allies will pay for the purchase and shipment, and the US will replenish their reserves in return.
We are talking about 17 batteries , which, as Trump emphasized, can be transferred “very soon.”
At the same time, on July 15, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, after a meeting with his American counterpart Pete Hegseth, stated that supplies of Patriot air defense batteries to Ukraine “will last for months.”
