Donald Trump said that he does not plan to wear a bulletproof vest, despite discussions about strengthening his personal security after three attempts on his life. The US President explained that such protection could make him visually fuller.
This was reported on Thursday, April 30, by AFP.
“I don’t know if I can stand it if I look 20 pounds [~9 kilograms] heavier,” he said, commenting on the possibility of using a protective vest.
The issue of additional security measures, according to Agence France-Presse, began to be considered after the incident in Washington, where a man was accused of attempting to attack the President during an official event. In parallel, the option of using a bulletproof vest as one of the elements of protection was discussed.
Donald Trump himself noted that the idea was offered to him, but there is no final decision.
“I was asked about it. I think this is something that can be considered. On the one hand, I don’t want to do it, because it seems like you are giving in to bad forces. So I don’t know. But I was really asked about it,” he said.
According to medical data for April 2025, Trump’s weight was about 101.6 kg. In 2019, this figure was recorded at 110.2 kg. During his second presidential term, he reportedly lost weight.
