Trump Quietly OKs Another $30M Arms Transfer for Ukraine

The move came as US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth wrapped up his multi-day testimony binge on Capitol Hill during which he clashed with lawmakers over the administration’s Ukraine policy.

WASHINGTON DC – The Trump administration last night informed Congress that it has approved a proposed transfer of “major defense equipment” worth approximately $30M for Ukraine’s Armed Forces – Kyiv Post’s Washington correspondent was informed by two congressional sources.

The move came as US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth wrapped up his multi-day spree of testimony on Capitol Hill, Thursday afternoon, trying to convince lawmakers that the current administration continued to “send presidential drawdown authorities” (PDA) to Ukraine without offering further details.Speaking to Kyiv Post on Friday, one administration official involved in the Executive Branch’s communications with Congress, said that US military aid for Ukraine under the Arms Export Control Act “has not stopped despite brief interruptions earlier this year”.

In early March, President Donald Trump froze all military aid to Ukraine before lifting the block shortly afterwards, following ceasefire talks in Saudi Arabia.

According to our source, last month, the US administration quietly approved another $242 million proposed arms transfer for Ukraine.

During a Senate committee hearing on Wednesday, June 11, Hegseth was pressed by Democrat Senator Chris Coons (D-CT) on why the administration was not using the previously approved remaining $3.8 billion in PDA to send additional air defense capabilities to Kyiv.

Hegseth claimed that the flow of weapons from earlier commitments was continuing, without offering further details.

“We should not be pursuing a ceasefire and a negotiated resolution to the war in Ukraine at any cost,” Coons told the Pentagon head.

The Senator concluded: “Peace through strength means actually using our strength, continuing to support Ukraine and securing a lasting peace. Putin will only stop when we stop him, and the best way to stop him is indeed through a stronger NATO.”

  1. It’s better than nothing, but I bet it cost the US way more in shooting down Iranian missiles last night.

      • “According to our source, last month, the US administration quietly approved another $242 million proposed arms transfer for Ukraine.”

Its peanuts? Its only peanuts because it flies in the faces of those that say Trump is trying to destroy Ukraine.

        • Yes, Red, it’s peanuts. No, it’s A peanut. Much smaller countries are giving much more.

  2. Krasnov can’t do anything quietly. More likely he doesn’t know about it and if he finds out he will do everything in his power to stop it
