John Phelan is the founder and CEO of a private investment firm.

The newly elected President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, plans to appoint businessman John Phelan, who has no military experience, as the head of the US Navy, The Hill writes .

“John will be a tremendous force for our Navy men and women and an unwavering leader in advancing my vision of America First. He will put the United States Navy first,” Trump said on his Truth Social.

John Phelan is the founder and chairman of Rugger Management LLC, a Florida-based private equity firm. He was also a managing partner of MSD Capital, a private equity firm.

Notably, Phelan did not serve in the military. But the businessman is a donor to the Trump campaign and other Republican-affiliated committees.

In April, he donated $834,600 to Trump’s joint fundraising committee, Trump 47, according to Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings. Phelan has also donated to various state Republican affiliates during the 2024 election cycle, the newspaper writes.

“His track record of success speaks for itself – a true champion of American entrepreneurship and ingenuity. John’s intellect and leadership are unmatched. His incredible knowledge and experience will improve the lives of the brave Americans who serve our nation. John will achieve real results for our Navy and our country. I look forward to working with him,” said Tram Phelan.

His nomination to lead the U.S. Navy will require confirmation in the Senate, where the Republican Party will hold a majority next year.

  1. As a clown, the orange felon needs other clowns for his cabinet. That should be understandable.

    • To be fair, Biden had a 4 star general as defence secretary that was about as useful as a chocolate teapot. Could this guy be any worse?
