Charles Kushner served a two-year sentence and was then released after pleading guilty.

Newly elected President of the United States of America Donald Trump has nominated his brother-in-law Charles Kushner for the post of US Ambassador to France, The Hill writes .

“I am pleased to nominate Charles Kushner of New Jersey as the United States Ambassador to France. He is an outstanding business leader, philanthropist, and dealmaker who will be a strong advocate representing our country and its interests. Together, we will strengthen America’s partnership with France, our oldest ally and one of our greatest allies,” Trump wrote on his social network Truth Social.

Charles Kushner is best known as the founder of the real estate firm Kushner Companies and as a former attorney. He was also appointed to the United States Holocaust Memorial Council and serves on the board of trustees of New York University, where Trump’s youngest son, Barron, is currently studying.

The Hill recalls that Kushner served two years in prison and was released after pleading guilty in 2004 to charges of tax evasion, lying to the Federal Election Commission and retaliating against a federal witness. Trump pardoned Kushner in the last month of his presidency.
