The White House is considering new means of pressure on Ukraine and Russia.
The administration of United States President Donald Trump believes that they are unlikely to be able to achieve a ceasefire in Ukraine in the next few months.

Reuters reports , citing officials familiar with the discussions. Senior American officials are developing new plans to pressure both the Russian Federation and Ukraine, as disrupting Trump’s “peacemaking” efforts would be anathema to him.
Officials have been complaining privately for weeks about Ukrainian resistance to the minerals deal and the advancement of peace talks, but in recent days they have become increasingly frustrated with Moscow:
“In a series of meetings and calls over the weekend, White House and State Department officials acknowledged that Russian President Vladimir Putin is actively resisting Washington’s efforts to reach a long-term peace deal and discussed what economic or diplomatic sanctions could push Russia toward a deal, if any at all.”
According to one source, this concerns the possibility of introducing new tariffs and sanctions against the Russian Federation.

Trump ain’t trying too hard to stop this war. He could do it quite easily if he wanted to.
