In particular, Putin tried to dissuade Trump from supplying these weapons.

US President Donald Trump made a series of statements about the war in Ukraine following his recent conversation with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

Specifically, during the briefing, the American leader said that Europe wants to end the war in Ukraine, but is “unable to do so.” At the same time, Trump himself, he said, can do it.

Tomahawk missile deliveries to Ukraine

The US President says that during a conversation with Putin, he tried to dissuade him from supplying Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine:

“Of course (he tried), but what do you think? What would he say: ‘Please sell (to Ukraine) these missiles, I would be very grateful?'”

In addition, he said, he also tried to ask Putin’s opinion regarding the transfer of these missiles.

“I said to Putin, ‘Would you mind if I handed over several thousand Tomahawk missiles to your opponents?’ He didn’t like the idea,” the US president added.

Trump, however, did not say whether Ukraine would receive these weapons. The American leader stated that the United States desperately needs Tomahawks, and Washington cannot expend its own stockpile of these missiles.
