The American leader said that “you can’t start a war against someone who is 20 times bigger.”

United States President Donald Trump commented on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s proposal to possibly purchase American weapons. 

“Oh, he’s always looking to buy missiles. Listen, when you start a war, you have to know you can win it, right? You can’t start a war against someone who’s 20 times bigger than you and expect people to give you missiles,” he said during a press conference. 

Trump recalled how, during his first term, he provided Ukraine with Javelins. According to him, this is how the Ukrainian military “won their first big battle, with tanks stuck in the mud.”

“And they destroyed them with Javelins. They have a saying that Obama, at that time, Obama gave them sheets, and Trump gave them Javelins. But this is something that should never have happened. It’s a real shame. Cities are destroyed. And the most important thing is millions of people are dead. Millions of people are dead because of three people. I would say three people. Putin is number one. Biden, who had no idea what he was doing, is number two. And Zelensky. And all I can do is try to stop it. I want to stop the killing,” Trump added.

He also commented on his statement that the Russian occupiers’ strike on Sumy on April 13 was a “mistake”:

“The mistake is that we allowed the war. If Biden were competent and if Zelensky were competent, and I’m not sure he is competent. We had a difficult session with this guy. He kept asking for more and more. While I was president, Putin didn’t even talk about war, and as soon as the elections were rigged and I wasn’t here, the war started. We couldn’t have allowed this war to happen,” the American leader stated.
