Trump is effectively acting as a Russian agent, says Portuguese President Sousa

Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa has called US leader Donald Trump a person who acts as a “Soviet or Russian” agent.

He stated this during a speech at a youth training event,  Portugal Pulse quotes ,  Censor.NET reports .

Souza commented on Trump’s efforts to act as the main mediator between Russia and Ukraine to end the war.

He singled out Trump as an example of a new, more emotional style of political leadership that seeks to communicate directly with citizens, bypassing traditional media intermediaries, in a world where power dynamics have changed.

“With something unique and complex: the supreme leader of the world’s leading superpower is, objectively, a Soviet or Russian agent. He acts as an agent,” the Portuguese president said.

Souza noted that this is not an alliance built on friendship or economic, ideological, or doctrinal cooperation.

“I argue that, objectively, the new American leadership has strategically benefited the Russian Federation,” he noted, referring to the US president’s actions regarding the Russian-Ukrainian war.

“In other words, they have moved from the role of allies on one side to the role of arbitrators in this conflict… Every day there are terrible threats of sanctions. Were there any American sanctions against the Russian Federation under the new president? None. And they are still threatening huge sanctions. They don’t even imagine what will happen. But we know that nothing will happen, because Europe underestimated Trump and Trumpism, and the possibility of a sudden change in the balance of power,” the Portuguese president continued.

Souza added that the “arbitrator” seeks to negotiate exclusively with one of the parties, excluding both Ukraine and Europe, which have been forced to impose their presence in recent peace discussions.

  1. Where is the acting part? He’s not acting at all. It’s a pity the rest of the EU won’t get behind this guy and say they fully support everything he says.
