US President Donald Trump finds it difficult to understand the difference between occupied and recognized territories, which is why he is annoyed by the lack of “simple exchange” between the parties.

As Censor.NET reports , former US special representative Kurt Volker stated this  in an interview with “Social”.

He emphasized that he does not know how Trump will react to Zelensky’s refusal to make concessions on Donbas.

“Trump is already irritated by both Russia and Ukraine. He’s annoyed that there’s no ‘simple exchange.’ He doesn’t understand how complicated it is,” Volker said.

He explained that the head of the White House does not see the difference between the situation “this is occupied territory, we cannot return it now” and “this is recognized Russian territory.”

“For him, it’s the same thing: ‘Well, it’s under Russia, so what’s the difference?’ But for Ukraine and international law, it’s a huge difference. Because recognizing the success of aggression is the path to disaster and future wars: Putin will get one thing and go for another,” Volker commented.

Recall that President Zelensky, during a conversation with Trump and European leaders, refused to withdraw troops from the Donetsk region at the request of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
