US President Donald Trump has been saying since at least late April that he will take further steps to resolve the Russia-Ukraine war within two weeks. However, the American leader has not yet provided a clear plan of action.

It is noted that Trump has been setting two-week deadlines since at least the beginning of his first term in 2017 – for policy plans, long-awaited decisions or uncertain major announcements, many of which never materialized.
What deadlines did Trump give?
Now, as Trump faces a choice between imposing new sanctions on Moscow or abandoning attempts to broker peace altogether, he is once again saying that it will take about two weeks to determine whether Putin is serious about ending the war against Ukraine.
“In two weeks I will tell you whether Putin is fooling us. If so, we will react a little differently. Putin is playing with fire,” the head of the White House said on May 28 , answering questions in the Oval Office about Putin’s intentions.
At the same time, Trump did not specify what exactly he expects to learn during these two weeks that will force him to finally assess the Russian leader’s position.
He also did not specify what actions he would be willing to take after the end of this term.
CNN recalled that on April 24 , Trump suggested to the journalist to return with the question about further military aid to Ukraine in two weeks.
“We’ll see what happens. You can ask it in two weeks and we’ll see,” he said at the time.
Three days later, the Republican repeated to a journalist who asked if he trusted the Russian dictator: “I’ll let you know in about two weeks.”
The publication notes that Wednesday, May 28, was exactly two weeks after another statement by Trump on May 14 , when he promised to report soon whether Putin was “deceiving” him.
Also on May 19, the US president said that he would need about two more weeks to assess whether Ukraine was making enough efforts to end the war.
“I’d rather tell you in about two weeks because I can’t say yes or no,” he added, according to CNN.
