The US President’s wife wrote a letter to Putin about the kidnapped Ukrainian children.
US President Donald Trump’s wife Melania Trump has written a personal letter to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, raising the issue of the plight of children in Ukraine and Russia, Reuters reports , citing two White House officials.
According to the publication’s sources, Trump personally handed the letter to Putin during their talks in Alaska.
“Officials have not disclosed the contents of the letter, except to mention the abduction of children as a result of the war in Ukraine,” Reuters writes.
The Times previously reported that Russia is using children abducted from occupied Ukrainian territories to fight against its own people. Since 2014, more than 35,000 children have been forcibly removed, many of whom are now joining the Russian army upon reaching the age of 18.
Trump and Putin meeting
After the meeting with Putin, Trump said he would advise Zelensky to conclude an agreement , but did not specify its details. He added that a meeting with him, Zelensky and Putin could be organized in the near future.
In an interview with Fox News after the meeting, Trump said it was a “10.” He also said the Alaska meeting failed to reach agreement on important points.
