Details: The traditional sweet-giving event hosted by the US president and the first lady takes place ahead of Halloween.

Among the children who approached the Trumps for sweets at this year’s event was a girl wearing a costume styled after a traditional Russian sarafan dress and a headband resembling a kokoshnik.

The boy was dressed in a military uniform and wore a cap similar to a Soviet military peaked cap, with a cockade styled after the USSR coat of arms.

According to the White House website, the event was held, among others, for the families of military personnel, law enforcement officers, foster families and government employees.
