Trump Gives Surprising Reason Why He Won’t Debate Harris

In June, he was free to debate Biden, who was significantly less energetic than Harris.

Donald Trump does not want to meet Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in a debate because he is already “leading in the polls.” The Republican candidate made this statement on the Fox Business channel .

“Why would I debate? I’m leading in the polls. And everybody knows her, everybody knows me. She wants open borders, she wants a weak military, she wants high taxes. And I want low taxes, a strong border, I want a tough policy on drugs,” Trump explained.

At the same time, he called Kamala Harris a “failed candidate” from the Democratic Party.

As Bloomberg notes , this is not the first time Trump has refused to participate in debates with inconvenient opponents. In particular, this is exactly what he did at the stage of preliminary selection of the Republican candidate (the so-called primaries). Although the American tradition provides for debates between candidates at all stages of the election campaign, Trump ignored the debates, citing his already significantly higher ratings.

However, when Trump was finally chosen as the Republican candidate, he began to insist on debates with the Democratic candidate, Joe Biden. They eventually took place on June 27 and became a disaster for the current US president.

According to Bloomberg, Trump has already lost his electoral lead in the so-called swing states, where victory means victory overall. Trump currently has 47% of voter support there, while Harris has 48%, which is within the margin of statistical error.

US Election 2024: Latest News

As UNIAN reported, Kamala Harris collected $310 million in voluntary donations for her election campaign in July. This is significantly more than Trump, to whose election campaign Americans donated only $139 million. And this is despite the fact that Trump was unsuccessfully assassinated in July, which in theory should have significantly increased his popularity.

We also reported that Donald Trump criticized the prisoner exchange between the US and Russia. In particular, he put forward an unsubstantiated suggestion that the US paid Russia money for the release of the prisoners.

  1. He accepts a debate, but he imposes new conditions, without negotiating them with Kamala first. It is bullshit.

Not on ABC, on Fox news (4. September) with anchors Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum, Great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, FULL ARENA AUDIENCE!

    What a circus!
