US President Donald Trump responded to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s open letter to the Kremlin leader. He expressed his opinion to reporters during a conversation at the White House.

In particular, Trump supported the idea of a personal meeting between the leaders of the two countries and added that he was very pleased to discuss the possibility of their meeting.

“It would be great if Zelensky and Putin met for talks,” the White House chief of staff said. In addition, he added that “they are both very good people.”

Trump also noted that without American assistance, Ukraine would not have been able to survive this long.

“Without our military and our equipment, Ukraine would not be able to continue the fight today. Without the equipment that I provided them, Ukraine would not have lasted even a day or two,” Trump emphasized.

The US President said that he expects mutual compromises from Ukraine and Russia to resolve the conflict.

“I offered these concessions, and, you know, we put a lot of effort into this… I want each side to make some concessions, and I think they will,” the White House chief said.

  1. Trump just gave us two more reasons why the US shouldn’t be involved in any negotiations.
He still thinks he saved Ukraine by sending Javelins
He doesn’t see any difference between an invading war criminal and a patriot trying to protect his people.
Trump will continue to have zero credibility until he has an extended visit to Ukraine.

  2. “Trump added that “they are both very good people.”

A morally bankrupt and deeply evil statement. Trying to equate the greatest wartime leader since Churchill with a sadistic, psychopathic, child-murdering Nazi is simply breathtaking.

    Garry Kasparov yesterday:

“The US has been failing this Churchill/Chamberlain moment for years. And on Ukraine, Trump’s second term makes Chamberlain look like Churchill in comparison. At least Chamberlain didn’t know what was coming in 1938. Siding with genocidal Russia after so many years is far worse.”
