U.S. President Donald Trump said that Norway has turned into a “shithouse country,” expressing dissatisfaction that he has been repeatedly overlooked for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Trump made the remarks during a campaign rally in Michigan, according to Politico.
Despite the fact that Trump started a war with Iran and effectively kidnapped Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro, he has actively touted his peacemaking achievements, claiming that during his second presidential term he resolved at least eight conflicts.
However, the Nobel Committee in Oslo has passed him over twice. In 2025, it awarded the Peace Prize to Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado. And this year, the prize went to South African lawyer Navi Pillay for her efforts to strengthen peace and international law.
“What about me? Do they do two of them? So I’m not in love with Norway. Frankly, Norway sucks. Norway has become a shithouse country, actually,” Trump said during his speech.
The American leader also criticized Norway when he turned to the issue of immigration to the U.S.
““We work with Denmark, good country, good nice country. Anybody that would like to come into our country from Denmark, I’m all for it. But I must tell you, from Somalia … I’ve had it with them. I’ve had it with them. I much prefer Denmark. Denmark, we’ll take them. Sweden, Norway … I don’t think so because I didn’t get the Nobel Prize even though I ended it. So I don’t want anybody from Norway. I don’t want anything to do with Norway,” the U.S. President stated.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on January 16 of this year, Mochado presented Trump with her Nobel Peace Prize medal, noting his “role” and “understanding” of the situation in Venezuela.
Later, Norwegian politicians criticized Mochado’s decision to give Trump her Nobel Peace Prize medal.

The hatred and jealousy of Obama is there for all to see. I’m no fan of Obama by any means, but he’s 10 times the man that TACO will ever be. If he really wanted the peace prize, there is a war in Europe he could have stopped, instead he supports to wrong side.
The Nobel Peace Prize is decided by the five-member Norwegian Nobel Committee, not by the Norwegian government.
If anyone was looking for an example of Trump’s petulance and narcissism, here it is. I just hope the Norwegian board explains to Trump why he has failed the world in Ukraine. Somebody needs to tell him.
