American media consider Putin’s invitation to Florida morally offensive.
US President Donald Trump invited Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to the G20 summit in Florida in December. This appears to be an endorsement of Russia’s aggression against NATO, according to an editorial in The Wall Street Journal .
As the publication notes, Putin remains effectively isolated from the West following the launch of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Therefore, participation in the international summit, according to the WSJ editorial board, could be an opportunity for the Kremlin to demonstrate to the Russian audience Putin’s return to the ranks of world leaders.
“The US invitation will give Putin the opportunity to show Russians in photographs that he is no longer a pariah on the world stage,” the publication says.
Journalists speculate that Trump may view Putin’s return to international diplomacy as a way to create additional conditions for ending the war in Ukraine. At the same time, the article’s authors recall the previous meeting between the two presidents at a bilateral summit in Alaska in August 2025, after which Putin remained steadfast in his approach to the war.
At the same time, as the WSJ points out, concerns are growing in Europe about further Russian actions against NATO countries. Journalists, in particular, cite the August incident at Leipzig Airport, where a drone carrying explosives could have posed a threat to people. Tragedy was averted due to a malfunction of the explosive device.
This week, the Danish Defence Intelligence Service also warned that Russia could test NATO’s preparedness to respond with a “limited military” attack in the coming months. The agency noted that such a move could be aimed at weakening European support for Ukraine and creating divisions within the Alliance.
The Wall Street Journal notes that the Danish warning is not isolated: similar signals have recently come from other high-ranking European officials. According to the authors, similar assessments were also heard by US congressmen who received classified briefings from US intelligence officials.
Against this backdrop, the editorial board asks what Washington’s reaction would be in the event of a Russian attack on a NATO member country.
“Inviting a dictator to the G-20 summit is morally offensive. Even worse, it could lead a Russian to think he can get away with a targeted attack on NATO,” the journalists note.
Trump’s policies
As UNIAN reported, Trump stated that he wants to reach a ceasefire agreement between Zelenskyy and Putin and hopes for an agreement before winter. He added that both presidents are committed to ending the war.
We also reported that Ukraine and the United States agreed to grant licenses for the production of Patriot interceptor missiles . Zelenskyy reported that Trump personally confirmed this decision at a meeting in New York on September 22. According to the Ukrainian president, the agreements are now final, and the country will receive the right to produce these missiles.

And Zelensky himself welcomed the move, hoping for a trilateral meeting in Saudi Arabia to end the war. Whether the latter will be successful of course needs to be seen, but hope dies last.
Trump is really taking some weird drugs if he thinks that the scumbag will agree to a cease fire or for that matter keep the terms. He hasn’t upheld any treaty in his life, so why would he start now?
And, not actually knowing, I’d say the same goes for the orange turd’s biz “deals” are never adherd to unless it profits him. So, bird of a feather, flock together…
