US leader Donald Trump believes that Russia will agree to a 30-day ceasefire in the war against Ukraine.
He told reporters about this at a press conference, Censor.NET reports .
Trump says he could travel to Istanbul, where a potential meeting between Volodymyr Zelensky and Vladimir Putin could take place on May 15.
“I think that this opportunity will arise if I believe that something can happen. That it will be important for the agreement. Russia has to agree to this ceasefire,” he noted.
He said the US administration is “working very hard to see if it can end the bloodshed.”
Trump also said he had a “feeling that they (in Russia – ed.) would agree” to a 30-day unconditional ceasefire, which the Kremlin has so far rejected.

As a reminder, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously stated that Ukraine is ready for meetings and negotiations in any format after a complete ceasefire.
In turn, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin rejected the “Coalition of the Willing” proposal for a ceasefire from May 12 and proposed resuming direct negotiations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation in Istanbul.

So Trump knows better than the EU, ISW, and Ukraine that have all said that putler is stalling for time.
I don’t think he disagrees but he really has put putler in a box. Now putler has a choice to either make the Moskali MIC and KGB happy or Trump and Zelensky.
Putin will never fly to a NATO country, or change his plans for a Ukrainian capitulation. The Lindsey Graham 500% tariffs on Russian oil would certainly get putler’s attention, but I remember the sanctions from hell that never materialised.
You’re right, and that’s why he won’t mention the format. He sent stooges in 2022 and that is what he wants to continue? He is going to piss Trump off and that will be very good for Ukraine. Besides that, I know some very high level SBU diplomats and they told me, for putler to pull off a trip like this it would take them 7-10 days in preparations.
And those preparations would not help much if the SBU wanted to get the rat. Once outside his stronghold, he’ll be very vulnerable.
Trump also believed in his 24-hr. peace, or that Mexico will pay for his wall, or that his tariffs would make America great again.
