US President Donald Trump is confident that peace between Russia and Ukraine is possible if Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky are in power. He made the statement in a wide-ranging interview with The Time magazine , posing for a photo against the backdrop of a portrait of himself given by Putin, painted by Kremlin artist Nikas Safronov.

“I think peace is possible. You’re saying if Putin remains president? I think it’s possible under my presidency. If someone else is president, there’s no chance,” Trump said.

According to him, the Russian dictator is capable of making peace with Ukraine. Trump is confident that he is the only one who can agree on this with Putin.

“We had very good negotiations and we are very close to making a deal. And I don’t believe anyone else could have made this deal,” he added.

When asked whether peace was possible if Zelensky was the president of Ukraine, Trump replied that he believed it was possible and that it could be agreed upon.

Among other things, the American leader expressed confidence that Ukraine will not join NATO. He believes that it was the country’s desire to be in the ranks of the North Atlantic Alliance “that caused the war to begin.”

“If they hadn’t talked about it, there would have been a much greater chance that it (the war – UNIAN) wouldn’t have started,” Trump stressed.

What does Trump think about Crimea?

As UNIAN reported, US President Donald Trump answered the question about who should get Crimea, occupied by Russia. The American leader expressed confidence that Crimea will remain with Russia . In response to this question, he pointed the finger at former US President Barack Obama.

“Well, Crimea went to the Russians. It was given to them by Barack Obama, not me. Given that, can they (Ukrainians – UNIAN) get it back? They (Russians – UNIAN) had their submarines there long before any period we’re talking about, for many years. The people in Crimea speak mostly Russian. But Obama gave it, not Trump. Would they take it (Crimea – UNIAN) from me, like they did with Obama? No, they wouldn’t. If I were president, Crimea wouldn’t have been taken,” Trump said.

He added that Crimea will remain part of Russia, and “Zelensky understands this, and everyone understands this.”

  1. The Ukrainian people will never agree to ceding land to the fascist pig in the Kremlin, so Ukraine will have to pound the misfit bipeds until they learn to read a map. Another misfit biped will eventually come along some day and there will never be peace or borders until Ukraine gets article 5 protection. Hopefully that will come when Ukraine becomes the place to go for weapons and technology.
