The United States and Iran had “good and productive talks,” Trump said.
US President Donald Trump said he had ordered a 5-day pause in strikes on Iran’s energy infrastructure, writing on the Truth Social network .
According to him, over the past two days, the US and Iran “held very good and productive talks on resolving the situation in the Middle East. These talks, he added, will continue for another week.”
“I have instructed the military department to postpone any military strikes on Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for a period of five days, subject to the success of the current meetings and discussions,” the US president said.
Against the backdrop of this statement, Brent crude oil prices fell by about 7% to $104, Reuters writes .
Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Ministry denied reports of negotiations with the US.
