US President Donald Trump announced a conversation with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. The White House later clarified that he was referring to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

He said this during a meeting with Polish President Karol Nawrocki in the Oval Office of the White House, Censor.NET reports.

The journalist asked Trump what would happen next after the two weeks that the American president gave Putin to agree to talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky ended.

Trump said he would speak with Putin “very soon.”

“We have taken very strong measures. But I will talk to him in the next few days, and he and I will discuss this. I will know exactly what happened,” the head of the White House said.

The White House later clarified to reporters that when talking about the planned conversation a few days ago, Trump was referring to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. AFP journalist Danny Kemp reported this on social media, citing an unnamed White House official.

“Trump was referring to Zelensky when he said in the Oval Office that ‘I’ll have a conversation with him very soon,'” the reporter wrote .
