US President Donald Trump has confirmed that the Oval Office row with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky was planned as part of a strategy to put pressure on Ukraine.

The American president said this during a conversation with journalists. “We needed to get Ukraine to do the right thing. It was not an easy situation. You saw a little scene in the Oval Office, but I think they are doing the right thing now, and we are trying to achieve a ceasefire and then a peace agreement,” Trump explained the motive for his actions and added that he considers them right.

In addition, when asked about stopping the provision of weapons and intelligence to Ukraine, Trump said that this decision, in his opinion, had no consequences for the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region of Russia. “Not at all. Quite the opposite. You have to understand that if I see someone doing something bad that is going to cause a lot of death, the only reason I intervene is for humanity. I intervene for humanity, because a lot of people are dying there,” Trump expressed his opinion.

Trump and Zelensky’s Quarrel

The conflict between Zelensky and Trump during the meeting in the White House could have been deliberately provoked by the American side. This opinion was expressed by the future German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. “At this meeting in the Oval Office, there was not a spontaneous reaction to Zelensky’s words, but, obviously, a provoked escalation . I was somewhat surprised by the tone of the conversation – it did not bring any benefit,” Merz commented.
