The administration of Donald Trump will be forced to change its stance on Russia because of the Kremlin’s constant lies and manipulations over peace talks with Ukraine

This opinion was voiced on Espreso TV by Ukrainian MP Mykola Kniazhytskyi.

“The U.S. continues to provide Ukraine with intelligence and previously approved military aid. This is a positive point. That’s why I would be very cautious in assessing Trump’s position. Today, we need to look at his actions, not words. So far, the support for Ukraine, which could have been much greater, has not materialized, but the assistance already approved continues — and we are very grateful for that,” Kniazhytskyi said.

The MP stressed that Vladimir Putin shows no intention of ending the war against Ukraine. Instead, the Trump administration only speaks about increasing pressure on Russia while time is being dragged out.

“I think the Trump administration initially planned to have business ties with Russia and hoped, without deeply understanding the nature of this conflict, to easily end the Russian-Ukrainian war. But Putin’s goal is to deceive Trump and the whole world while prolonging the war to lessen pressure on himself. Unfortunately, for now Putin is succeeding, while Trump only talks,” he explained.

Kniazhytskyi believes that Trump and his circle clearly understand that Putin is deceiving them, and eventually they will have to shift their position on Russia.

“It would be very good if the ‘peace through strength’ Trump once promised actually began to take shape. To be honest, he never said whom it would apply to. But as we see, Ukraine, represented by President Zelenskyy and its leadership, agrees to everything Trump proposes. Russia, on the other hand, agrees to nothing. That is why I believe today the U.S. leadership is cornered. They have no instruments of pressure on Putin, they don’t want to impose more sanctions, and they don’t want to spend additional funds on military aid to Ukraine. At the same time, they see that Putin is openly deceiving them. Therefore, I think the Trump administration will ultimately be forced to change its position on Russia,” the politician concluded.
