Trukhanov plans to significantly increase his salary and give bonuses to his deputies

The issue of increasing the salary of Odessa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov by 50%, as well as paying him a monthly bonus in the amount of 120% of his salary, will be considered by deputies of the Odessa City Council at the next session.

The draft decision proposed by the city mayor states that he deserved such bonuses for “high achievements in work, performing particularly important work and length of service.”

In addition, first deputy mayor Alexander Filatov, deputy mayors Svetlana Bedrega, Pavel Vugelman and Valery Silin, as well as City Council Secretary Igor Koval received bonuses of up to 150% of their salaries.

If deputies vote for such payments, they will be made from May 1, 2024 until the end of the term of the Odessa City Council of the VIII convocation.

The explanatory note states that such a decision does not carry any risks.

Let us remind you that in 2023 Trukhanov received a salary of 293 thousand hryvnia. It should be noted that the mayor of Odessa in 2022 was in last place in the ranking of salaries of heads of regional centers of Ukraine. In first place was the head of Kharkov Igor Terekhov with a salary of 1.7 million UAH, in second place was the mayor of Cherkassy Anatoly Bondarenko with an income of almost 1.4 million, and in third place was the head of Lutsk Igor Polishchuk, who received just over a million hryvnia.

In 2023, Deputy Mayor of Odessa Svetlana Bedrega earned almost 916 thousand hryvnia from her position, and  Pavel Vugelman earned 646 thousand hryvnia. Alexander Filatov and Valery Silin recently took up their positions, so the declarations for last year indicate their salaries at their previous places of work. Filatov, as the head of the city department of land resources, earned 414 thousand UAH, and Silin in the security service of the Pivdenny Bank received 457 thousand UAH.

  1. A small increase of 50% is good, and a bonus every month of 120% also, there is a war on, inflation…………………expensive houses and cars, wifes…………………

    • Uh, Veth, you’re certainly aware that his salary of 293,000 Hryvnia / year translates to just 6922 Euros. In Germany, even welfare recipients get more. Ok, costs of living sure are lower in Ukraine, but not that low. Let’s be realistic, to discourage corruption, officials need to be paid decent incomes. Or else it becomes not only a temptation, but a necessity, to take bribes! 🤨

  2. This is in bad taste, a bad move, and will cause bad moods across the nation.
People like him are just corrupt, useless parasites that should be thrown in prison and should have their assets confiscated to help the army.

    • This bastard has never changed. He should be rotting in prison after all the corruption he was involved in.

    • Didn’t you read that, Mr. Ofp: “It should be noted that the mayor of Odessa in 2022 was in last place in the ranking of salaries of heads of regional centers of Ukraine.”
I totally fail to see why a reasonable increase of his salary should be a scandal, sorry. 🤔

        • I believe I’ve already that before, Foccusser, after reports about shady businesses in Odessa showed up in Ukrainian media. Sure, Trukhanov may be a crook. He can be blamed for a lot of things, but imho not for asking for an adequate income. Seriously, what to expect when the mayor of a major city gets paid such a measly salary? How to find an honest person, willing to do that demanding job, under these conditions? So, my point was a more general one: To discourage corruption, officials need to be paid a decent salary. If not, they’ll improve their finances by other means, that’s almost inevitable. ☹

      • Odessa has also been one of the most corrupt cities in Ukraine. I can’t figure out how this guy deserves even the relatively low pay he had beforehand.

        • My guess is that once the war started, his access to lucrative money making schemes came to an abrupt halt. This guy made millions because of his position, not because he worked hard. Now that door has been closed, he’s whining about low pay.
