The Canadian Prime Minister stressed that getting the facts right is key.

During a heated argument in the Oval Office of the White House, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy did the right thing when he tried to explain the situation with the war in Ukraine to two US leaders, said Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, quoted by The Guardian .

“It’s important to be as clear as possible about the facts whenever possible,” Trudeau said, explaining why he approves of Zelensky’s behavior in Washington.

The Canadian Prime Minister emphasized that Russia did not invade Ukraine for the first time in 2022: it violated an existing ceasefire that had been reached earlier. At the same time, Trudeau noted that Russia could end the war tomorrow if it simply stopped attacking.

“On Friday in the Oval Office, President Zelenskyy said in so many words that Vladimir Putin is a liar and a criminal, and his promises in any form cannot be trusted because he has demonstrated time and time again that he will break any agreement. I stand with Volodymyr Zelenskyy and I stand with the people of Ukraine,” Trudeau explained.

  1. Telling a pathological liar that another person is a pathological liar is not going to work, they have empathy.

  2. Just to clarify history.
Putin broke up to 6 treaties with his war against Ukraine going back as far as the UN Article 2, Section 4, Treaty on the Russian–Ukrainian border, The Budapest Memorandum, The Treaty of Friendship in 97 and The Treaty on the Russian–Ukrainian border in 2002 which was signed by Putin. and the Minsk Agreement.
Given this history of lawlessness why would any reasonable person think future agreements will be any different?
