Transfer of Tomahawk missiles and permission to hit Russians: NATO adopted a resolution on Ukraine

China poses numerous and systemic challenges to Euro-Atlantic security, the Alliance believes.

The NATO Parliamentary Assembly adopted a resolution on assistance to Ukraine, which, in particular, provides for the provision of medium-range missiles (from 1,000 to 5,500 kilometers) to Kyiv, including the Tomahawk type.

The resolution also states that the Ukrainian side is granted permission to strike Russian military targets with the provided weapons.

The Alliance also made a number of promises to Ukraine:

  • Establish a NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine (NSATU) programme.
  • Establish a NATO-Ukraine Joint Analysis, Training and Education Centre (JATEC).
  • Long-term assistance to our country in the field of security. NATO will maintain and increase military, financial and humanitarian support to Ukraine, ensuring timely supplies of ammunition and modern weapons systems, including air defense systems, long-range precision weapons, long-range precision weapons and multi-role fighters.
  • Provide minimum core funding of €40 billion over the next year.
  • Support Kyiv’s efforts, expressed in its peace formula and victory plan, to achieve a just and lasting peace, and remain true to the principle of “nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine.”
  • To step up political and practical efforts to help Ukraine receive an invitation to join NATO and become the bloc’s 33rd member as soon as possible;

“Russia remains the most significant and direct threat to the security of the Allies, and this threat will persist in the long term. NATO should develop a common strategic approach to Russia by the next summit in the Netherlands, focusing on fully preparing the Alliance to deter and counter a hostile Russia,” the document notes.

The resolution also stresses that China “poses multiple and systemic challenges to Euro-Atlantic security, interests and values, as well as to the rules-based international order.”

The Alliance called China a decisive accomplice in Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine:

“NATO must deter Russia’s hostile actions on all fronts…while supporting efforts to reduce Moscow’s ability to wage aggressive wars, in particular by recognizing Ukraine’s right to strike legitimate military objectives in the territory of an aggressor in accordance with the principle of self-defense enshrined in Article 51 of the UN Charter.”

  1. Thanks for the Tomahawks. Now ship them in large numbers to get Ukraine in a more favorable position during Piece Talks under Trump.
