Traffic on Podolsky Bridge to Open in Kyiv: Date Named

In Kyiv, the movement of passenger cars and urban passenger transport will be allowed on the Podolsky Bridge . The decision was supported by the Kiev Defense Council.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko noted in Telegram that the new route also includes travel through a new tunnel that connects the bridge with Petra Vershigory Street in the direction of Roman Shukhevych Avenue and the Troyeshchyna residential area.

At the same time, he indicated that the new bridge will be closed to heavy-duty vehicles.

“Only special vehicles and bus route No. 111 are allowed to use the bridge crossing. Work on the improvement and development of the adjacent territory, near the new tunnel, will be completed by the end of the year. Without impeding the movement of vehicles,” the mayor concluded.

Podolsko-Voskresensky Bridge – Latest News

On November 24, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced the opening of the Podolsk-Voskresensky Bridge .

Active work on the construction of the bridge began back in 2003, and it was initially expected that the infrastructure facility would be commissioned in 2008. Earlier, Klitschko announced plans to open the automobile part of the bridge crossing at the end of 2020.

The design capacity of the new Podolsko-Voskresensky bridge crossing will be 60 thousand cars per day. It was planned to equip six lanes for automobile traffic and two railway tracks for the future metro – on the lower tier, a pipeline will also be laid.
