The plane’s problems began during the flight from Makhachkala to Aktau.

Today, a passenger plane of Azerbaijan Airlines crashed in Kazakhstan – the plane fell on the territory of Aktau airport, and a video of the damaged aircraft was posted on social networks. According to military-political observer Alexander Kovalenko, who studied the video and photo evidence, the plane could have been fired upon by Russian air defense .

“It is obvious that the fuselage of the aircraft has multiple damages from striking elements typical of anti-aircraft guided missiles of air defense systems,” the analyst emphasizes.

According to preliminary information, the Embraer E190AR passenger plane of Azerbaijan Airlines was forced to change course to Makhachkala in the capital of Chechnya due to heavy fog. However, it was later redirected from Makhachkala to Aktau. At the same time, according to open information, when landing at Aktau airport, the aircraft had a problem with an uncontrolled increase in flight altitude and speed.

Based on this data, the observer comes to the conclusion that the plane’s problems began during the flight from Makhachkala to Aktau.

“All of the above does not exclude the possibility of a Russian air defense aircraft being hit, especially since the Pantsir-S1 air defense missile and gun system was operating in the Grozny area that morning… The downing of a civilian aircraft, out of fear, by Russian air defense in Grozny or en route to Makhachkala is a completely appropriate version of the cause of the tragedy,” Kovalenko asserts.

Consequences of the plane crash in Kazakhstan

Russian media also report that Azerbaijan Airlines has suspended flights from Baku to Grozny and Makhachkala until the cause of the plane crash in Aktau is determined.
