Social media is buzzing with videos of Russian air defense forces’ helpless attempts to shoot down Ukrainian drones with automatic weapons as they bomb an oil depot.

Social media users are commenting on a video of Russian air defenses during the Ukrainian drone attack on the St. Petersburg Oil Terminal, one of the largest on the Baltic Sea. The footage published by the air defense forces has left the internet unimpressed. Conscripts and police stationed on the roof are attempting to shoot down the Ukrainian drones with automatic fire once they’re over the city.
Footage from St. Petersburg shows people with automatic weapons helplessly firing at drones, but they continue to fly. There are no visible air defense systems or equipment, nor are any anti-aircraft missiles launched. In one video, a gunner fires a burst, then sees the drone moving on, and simply gives up in despair. Footage later appears of a fire at an oil depot.
The reaction of the Russian conscripts themselves has drawn particular irony on social media. Videos are circulating online of those who participated in repelling the attack filming the aftermath, laughing, and posing in front of the burning structure.
The Ukrainian Special Operations Forces (SOF) reported that the strike on the St. Petersburg oil terminal was carried out by Deep Strike units in conjunction with the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the Unmanned Systems Forces (USF), the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR), and the State Border Service (SBS). According to the SOF, the terminal has 31 storage tanks with a total capacity of 324,000 cubic meters and a throughput capacity of 12.5 million tons per year.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the strike: according to him, Ukrainian forces hit targets approximately 1,100 km from the border.
As a reminder, we previously showed how a terminal supplying Russian oil exports is burning in St. Petersburg after UAV strikes.
Dialog.UA also reported on the targets in St. Petersburg attacked by Ukrainian long-range UAVs on June 3.

I wish Ukraine could have timed the attack when the useful idiots were about to attend the conference. They could have seen the mighty second best army in the world in action.
Oh, I’m sure they were well aware of what was going on. But, yeah, letting them witness it all would’ve been better.
I don’t know what the “air defence” was firing at, but the drone was way higher than where he was aiming.
