Honored Military Pilot of Russia, Aviation Colonel Gennady Isaakovich Stern addressed the Russian pilots. He called on his colleagues to immediately stop the destruction of cities and villages in Ukraine.
Stern’s video message has gone viral.
Stern turned to the pilots of the front-line aviation of the Russian Air Force. Here is the full text.
“I grew up on the Cherkasy land, from here I went into aviation. It hurts to look at the beautiful Ukrainian land bombarded with bombs and rockets, which in April of this year needs to be plowed and sown, and not ruined.
We flew in the same sky, on the same planes, from the same airfields, we were friends, I brought up two commanders in the air forces of Ukraine of the western direction – Major General Oleksiy Stanislavovich Marchenko and the eastern one – Colonel Valentin Antonovich Listopad. These are wonderful, famous people and pilots, one can be proud of their names.
Ukrainian infrastructure, Ukrainian military personnel, Ukrainian beautiful cities, peaceful Ukrainian population should not be in the sights of your aircraft, stop bombing and shelling Ukrainian territory from the air.
I look forward to your decision based on my appeal.
