It is known that previously the accounts of Russian mass media were restricted in Great Britain and the EU.

The social network  TikTok said it had removed accounts linked to Russian state media for “participation in covert influence operations,” Sky News writes .

This decision was explained by the fact that it is part of TikTok’s efforts to prevent disinformation before the US presidential election, which will be held in November.

In particular, the accounts of the Rossiya Segodnya media group, which owns the RIA Novosti and Sputnik news services, as well as TV-Novosti, the parent company of the RT channel, were deleted.

The company added that these accounts were previously restricted in the UK and the EU, and their content globally was flagged as state-controlled. However, it is now believed that they have been banned forever.

It is known that the company Meta, which is the owner of Instagram and Facebook, took such a step earlier . The company also banned Russia Today, RT and others for “activities related to foreign interference”.

Sky News recalled that the bans came after the US indicted two RT employees this month for allegedly trying to hire an American company to produce online content to influence the election.
