According to Boris Pistorius, the outcome of the war in Ukraine will be determined “on the assembly line” in the producing countries.
Germany will supply Ukraine with much more ammunition. German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced this before the meeting of the contact group in the Ramstein format in Brussels, Tagesschau reports .
According to him, for the current year only 3.5 billion euros are allocated in the German defense budget for ammunition. At the same time, the country is expected to supply Ukraine with “three to four times more” artillery ammunition in 2024 compared to 2023.
“We will continue to increase capacity. The outcome of the war in Ukraine will ultimately be determined on the assembly line in the producing countries,” Pistorius said.
He added that he would support “any option that provides reasonable and appropriate funding for defense.”
“For example, if we purchase additional much-needed weapons – from self-propelled howitzers to Patriot air defense systems – long-term maintenance costs will also increase,” the head of the Bundeswehr said.
German aid to Ukraine
Last month, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz criticized planned arms sales to Ukraine . He noted that Germany is in second place after the United States in providing assistance to Ukraine, but EU partner countries should increase it.
UNIAN also reported that in January Germany transferred new aid to Ukraine . The new package includes ammunition, missiles for air defense systems, as well as the Skynex self-propelled anti-aircraft gun.

That’s a great plan, but it always takes too much time to move from announcements to deliveries.
Apart from that, I suggest that new arms designs should be less complex and more maintenance-friendly. The Ukraine war shows how important that is.
I don’t know, he is speaking political BS in my opinion. He says three or four times more! Well, what’s that based off? I don’t remember that Germany provided all that much in 2023 in which case it should be 10 or even 100 times more. I known I’m being ungrateful but I don’t expect anyone to exaggerate what they’re providing because it sounds good
I understand that as saying that German ammunition production will be three to four times higher than at the start of the war, Captain. Which is probably true, thanks to Rheinmetall working at full speed now and further increasing it’s capacities.
Germany can help immediately by supplying Taurus. Those will help decimate the orcs logistics, but cowardice is still running through the veins of EU politicians.
Blah, blah… and blah.
Until that happens, Taurus missiles would be a fine stop-gap item. What about it, Mr. Scholz?
