On the night of September 5, Belarus was noisy. Its military was forced to shoot down Russian “shahedy” that the aggressor country launched over Ukraine, but they flew to Belarus.
As the “Belarusian Gayun” monitoring channel writes in Telegram , two kamikaze drones entered the Gomel region of the Republic of Belarus from the Chernihiv region of Ukraine. This happened at approximately 01:08.
Around 1:30 a.m., another fighter jet took off from the Baranovichi airfield, and within 10 minutes residents of the Gomel district heard two explosions. As noted, this was probably an anti-drone operation.
Already at two o’clock in the morning, “Belarusian Gayun” published a video showing one of the downed drones burning and falling. At the same time, it became known that a second fighter jet headed southeast from Baranovichi.
In the morning, the Ministry of Defense of Belarus confirmed the downing of drones.
“Tonight, September 5, the fact of violation of the State Border of the Republic of Belarus in the airspace, probably by unmanned aerial vehicles, was recorded. A decision was made to destroy them. Due to the timely actions of the air defense forces, all the targets of the violators were destroyed. This fact is being checked.” , – noted the Chief of the General Staff, First Deputy Commander of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces, Colonel Serhii Frolov.

Russian drone attacks
As UNIAN reported, this is not the first time that Russian drones get lost and fly to Belarus.
On July 16, during the Russian attack on Ukraine, the fourth Shahed-type kamikaze drone flew into Belarus. Later it became known that Shahed, who got lost in Belarus, exploded in the Bobruysk region .
For the first time, they shot down the Russian “Shaheed” on August 29.
On the night of July 30-31, one of the most massive Shahed events took place in the airspace of Belarus during the entire monitoring period. There is information about at least five kamikaze drones of this type.
On the night of September 4, during Russia’s attack on Ukraine, at least four Shaheds flew to Belarus , one of them disappeared in the north.
