Combat missions of Ukrainian military personnel in the Black Sea and in the territory of temporarily occupied Crimea are preparations for a serious operation on the Ukrainian peninsula. According to the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, the defenders are now checking the correctness of statements about the routes of approach and departure from Crimea.
In addition, in this way the soldiers show the Ukrainians in Crimea that they were not betrayed or forgotten. Budanov spoke about this in the documentary “War over the Sea: from the Dnieper to the Crimea.”
The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate noted that the combat missions carried out by military intelligence units in the Black Sea and Crimea are of great importance. In addition to preparing for serious operations on the territory of the peninsula, the defenders in this way show the Ukrainians in Crimea that they have not been forgotten.
“These are all preparatory measures for a serious operation in Crimea. This is a test of the correctness of our statements about the routes of approach and escape from there. In addition, this is a good message for the population living under occupation for 10 years. Many believe that they have been forgotten. There is people who love Ukraine, but believe that they have been betrayed. There are many such people, a lot of them left there,” Budanov said.
The intelligence officers in the documentary spoke about key operations in southern Ukraine in 2022-2023. In particular, fighters of the Shaman special forces recalled how they took advantage of the inattention of the invaders and crossed to the left bank of the Dnieper in the Kherson region.
The special forces commander with the call sign “Shaman” said that when the defenders realized that the enemy was not sufficiently aware of the situation, the personnel were transferred to the left bank of the Kherson region.
“Several intense clashes immediately occurred with enemy observation posts. Some observation posts were almost completely destroyed or captured,” recalls the military man.
In addition, in the summer of 2023, Ukrainian fighters returned the oil and gas production platform “Ukraine” to state control, and then took part in the Crimean operation “The Force Awakens”.
“The enemy will never have dominance in the sea, no matter what they come up with. This is our Black Sea, these are our towers, our Crimea, our Snake Island,” said the commander of the special forces of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry.
