The Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the information that a group of Russian soldiers entered the center of the city of Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region. The Ukrainian defenders immediately eliminated these invaders.
It was a group of two or three Russians who ran into the city, but could not gain a foothold there. Anastasia Bobovnikova, spokeswoman for the operational-tactical group of troops “Luhansk”, told ” Suspilne Donbas ” about this.
She did not specify when exactly this happened, but added that this was not an isolated incident.
Russian troops in Chasovoy Yar are trying to cross over in infantry groups of several people. They enter the city without technical support. Every time the Ukrainian military tries to identify such groups.
“I can’t call it a breakthrough, because there are only a few people, it may happen that even one person runs over, trying to hide,” said the spokeswoman.
According to her, the situation in the city of Chasiv Yar is difficult. Russian troops are accumulating their forces across the channel, two or three people are running over, hiding in bunkers and trying to accumulate before the assaults.
“In addition, they use the tactics of “meat reconnaissance”. This is not an advance. They send groups of soldiers forward, those who ran, those who could, those who did not – so it did not work. The Ukrainian military detects such attempts by the Russian troops and cuts off the logistical routes in such a way that these groups could not gain a foothold, in any case, not lasting more than a couple of days,” Bobovnikova said.
Currently, the enemy has not been able to cross the channel that divides the city into two parts with equipment, so he continues to use infantry.
“On the flanks around the city of Chasiv Yar, the situation is just as difficult, because the Russian troops are pressing, they are also trying to gather groups of troops. They are accumulating in landings there, they are trying to accumulate equipment. We believe that in the near future they will be able to start active assaults in this direction again. The number of shellings here remains unchanged, as does the use of FPV drones, they are used a lot – there are hundreds,” the Armed Forces noted.
As OBOZ.UA reported, the Ukrainian defense of the city of Pokrovsk in Donetsk region forced the aggressor country of the Russian Federation to change its approach in attacks on the eastern front. The Russian military command adjusted the plan of the offensive campaign in the Pokrovsky direction in the summer of 2024, when it became clear that they would not be able to capture the city in frontal attacks.
