As a result of the morning missile attack by the Russians, more than a million subscribers remained without electricity in Ukraine. Due to the efforts of energy workers, as of the evening, this figure is much smaller. This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyi in an evening video message .

“Today was one of the largest and most dangerous Russian strikes of the entire war. Two hundred and ten drones and missiles at once, including hypersonic and aeroballistic ones. Fortunately, most of the targets were shot down. The target for Russia was energy, critical infrastructure. In four regions now restoration work is ongoing. In the morning, more than a million subscribers were disconnected from electricity. Now the number is much smaller,” he said.

Zelenskyi considers the massive Russian missile attack to be the Kremlin’s response to those who wanted to achieve something with “conversations, phone calls, hugs” with Putin.

“Today, this “dove of peace” sent us yet another “daggers” and “calibers”. This is diplomacy. His language is meanness,” the head of state emphasized.

Thanking the fighters of the Air Defense Forces, Zelensky noted that today the American Patriot anti-aircraft missile complexes and F-16 fighters “showed themselves brilliantly”. 

“Thanks to all partners who help us with systems and anti-missile defenses. Every time such Russian strikes take place, we see how important it is that partners do not leave Patriots and other systems somewhere in warehouses, but hand them over to those people who know how protect life and needs it,” the president said, adding that Ukraine has not yet received all the necessary systems. 

Massive missile attack on Ukraine on November 17

As UNIAN wrote, this morning Russia launched a massive combined strike against Ukraine with missiles of various types and drones. According to the calculations of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the enemy launched a total of 120 missiles and 90 drones, of which 102 missiles and 42 UAVs were destroyed . Another 41 enemy drones were lost in various regions of Ukraine.

The target of Russian drones and missiles was civilian energy infrastructure. The DTEK company reported that Russia had hit the thermal power plants , as a result of which the equipment was seriously damaged. It is also known about the dead and wounded in different regions of Ukraine.
